Tantrums are not an acceptable practice for adults, so I needed an outlet to express frustrations about what I perceived to be the ridiculous and the unjust in the world.

These characters were born out of that crises: the "I can't take it anymore" craziness brought on by parking tickets, road rage, traffic, inflation, ignorance, control freaks and most of all, the annoyance of being forced to comply with pointless rules.

Through the rants of these characters I was granted permission to say all the things that propriety forbids. They are the inner child not reigned in by fear of being fired from a job or arrested by the police.

Their silence speaks volumes. An innocence is maintained but is buried beneath all of life's countless disappointments. They are jaded: disillusioned by the world they have been given.

Their negative musings are not welcome in our society which relies on compliance with social mores in order to maintain control -- so they have rebelled. They refuse to go along and accept everything they are told, blindly participating in the stage play and reciting their lines. They challenge authority and demand to live in the ideal world they feel they were promised.

The characters are not bound by rules of composure. They can scream and mope and cry and break things and lay down in the middle of the road if they want. They have no allegiance to the facade they are supposed to maintain.

Don't be scared of their lucid emotions or try to avoid them. Although their hearts have been hardened, deep down they are all just looking for love.
